It’s been a great summer at Settle & Giggleswick — from away days to competitions, President’s Day to the Bronze League. There have been wins, nail-biting finishes, and no shortage of great golf along the way. Here’s a look back at some of the highlights.
A trophy lost by the narrowest of margins. Our annual mixed match against Masham Golf Club came right down to the wire, with Masham retaining the trophy by a single Stableford point.
The Huntsworth Trophy heads home with Mark Varley. Our annual Captain’s away trip took us to Skipton Golf Club, headlined by the much-coveted Huntsworth Trophy — this year’s worthy winner, Mark Varley.
Route Trophy glory at Casterton. A stand-out result away from home, where our team beat four other clubs by a significant margin to lift the Route Trophy. A special mention to Paul Marshall for a superb performance on the day.
Hosting the big one. We were proud to host the Bronze League final between Ulverston and Kendal — a fantastic occasion for the club.
The Ladies took on Portal. Our Ladies enjoyed a brilliant day out at the Portal Championship Course, one of the highlights of their summer calendar.
Sunshine and scrambles on President’s Day. A glorious sunny day saw a four-ball scramble over nine holes, with the winning team — Frankie Eccleston, Len Horrocks, Paul Marshall and Elaine Woolham — coming in at an impressive two under par gross.
History made at Sedbergh. The TOFF’s produced a brilliant display in the heat to win 4 games to 3 — their first win at Sedbergh in 50 years.
There’s still a packed schedule to come in September — head to our events page to see what’s on.
Well done to everyone who’s played, won, and enjoyed taking part this summer. It really is what we’re all about.
